The Orgills were married in Hawaii, and this is the first time they have been back with all the kids. We started off taking some family pictures on the beach and at the end they decided to jump in the water for some underwater family pictures.
Eugene and Jane met at medical school and are doing their residency in different states. They met up here in Hawaii where Eugene is doing his residency. We spent the day on the North Shore photographing them in Haleiwa and Sunset Beach in and out of the water.
Had an incredible experience this last week swimming with dolphins. I brought two underwater housings, a new one that I just refurbished for my 5D mark II. I also brought myGoPro that I shot the video above with. All the editing for this video was done by Amber Mozo. She is the daughter of legendary surf photographer Jon Mozo. After being married 7 years Dave surprised his wife on their anniversary with a fun morning at the beach on the North Shore, and a family photo shoot that evening. I had a great time documenting their kayaking and cruising on the stand up paddle board (SUP). I posted one of the pictures a few weeks back here. I met them back on the North Shore later that evening for family pictures on the beach. The light was perfect and we scored a beautiful Hawaii sunset.
It was fun photographing the Drewery family again while they were back here on vacation. I shot maternity pictures of Michelle when they were last here. It is hard to tell from these pictures but she is expecting again. At the end of our shoot Michelle jumped in the water for a few underwater portraits. She looks so graceful and I love the dress she chose to wear.
The Laie Hawaii Temple is having an open house before it is rededicated. It is not often that general public can go inside a LDS Temple, so this is a great opportunity to check it out if your are going to be in Hawaii. The Didericksen family took their vacation in Hawaii and wanted to document the trip with some beach family portraits and underwater photography. Combining family photos, vacation and the ocean should result in FUN. We had a great time getting these shots. This family had good chemistry, especially mom and dad in the final shots below.
My wife’s brother was here for a couple of weeks for work. In the evenings after work he conceived of and did this stencil project in my studio/ office that is still under construction. He and I have done stenciling together before. Joe is a really talented, creative guy. Here is the image that Joe used as the inspiration to create the stencil. For those unfamiliar with stenciling from scratch, this was a pretty ambitious stencil to create. The image and accompanying quote are Jacques Cousteau. This is the perfect piece of art and source of inspiration for my work space. The video is freeze framing with a GoPro Hero cam. Joe coined the quote at the beginning. My son was getting over the flu so he makes a cameo in the frames, as does our dog.
The last few weeks I haven’t had a lot of time to blog, I’ve been shooting almost every day, but I wanted to put up a quick shot of this couple from their 7 year wedding anniversary water shoot. This is one of the owner’s of Surfin Tacos in Hau’ula. Have you tried their chocolate cheesecake? It’s definitely worth topping off your meal with, we are big fans.

Kaylin came to Hawaii on vacation with her family and best friend and thought it would be a good idea to get her senior portraits taken while in Hawaii. Not a bad idea, especially if you want to have something a little different like underwater senior portraits. We first started taking pictures in the colorful surf town of Haleiwa, and them mosied on over to Waimea Bay to photograph her underwater. It was a lot of fun having her best friend there, and as you can see in the pictures below they had a lot of fun.
