LEIAU + LANCE : HAWAII WEDDING, LAIE – KUALOA

trash the dress hawaii

i loved photographing this local wedding.  The incredible food, entertainment, and all the friends and family create the kind of atmosphere that makes Hawaii so special.  Leiau and Lance had an amazing wedding on the beach just outside of Laie, and after headed over to Kualoa Ranch for the reception.  The following Monday, Leiau decided to jump off Laie point in her wedding dress.  It was the perfect day with light winds and calm seas. Congratulations Leiau and Lance! Hawaii Wedding PhotographerHawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer Hawaii Wedding Photographer

HAWAII WEDDING & ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY ACTIVITIES

It’s been awhile since my last post.  Step back daily bloggers… my passion for photography has combined with providing people with incredible experiences, captured by my lens.  Let me share with you some of the photo-tourism and destination wedding-photo-shoots that have kept me busy this year.

This year started off full of fun photo shoots with international clients from China, Singapore and Taiwan.  I might need to brush up on some language skills!

I’ve begun collaborating with an amazing, boutique, vintage Hawaii, wedding venue here in the country.  (That’s code for not crowded Waikiki.)  The Wedding Cottage Hawaii.  The idea was to offer brides and couples getting engaged with more than an ordinary photo shoot. Coming soon we are going to offer a variety of different outdoor activities that I can document for clients in an editorial – life style type of shoot.  Some of the activities include beach cruising on the North Shore, Sunset Beach skate path, paddle boarding down a river, kayaking to small islands, horse back riding and cattle wrangling at Gunstock Ranch.  If you’re not a surfer or a skater but want some fun outdoor experience photographed… we’ve got options.  If you do want that skate or surf experience, talk to the Event Directors at The Wedding Cottage and they can customize this, along with their lodging options.  We can document highlights of your vacation and you’ll go home with images and memories that you’ll never forget.  Who wants to be next?

MORGAN & TAYLOR : LAIE TEMPLE WEDDING

What a beautiful wedding.  Morgan and Taylor had their wedding ceremony at the Laie Hawaii Temple.  Their reception was held at the art courtyard at BYU-Hawaii.  This was the first wedding event I have photographed at BYU-Hawaii.  There were many fun details that went into decorating the courtyard, making it an intimate reception.  Our tropical summer weather brought some rain during the reception, but I’ve heard that wedding day rain brings extra good fortune to the couple and it certainly didn’t dampen the good feelings and energy of the event.  It was memorable to witness all of the Maori culture expressed through Morgan’s family and Taylor joined in the haka as well.    Congratulations Morgan and Taylor!  Mahalo for allowing me to be a part of your amazing day.

ROCHELLE + IVAN : WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – NORTH SHORE HAWAII

Rochelle and Ivan came all the way from Alaska to have their destination wedding in Hawaii. The day turned out to be amazing even though we had a little rain that day on the North Shore. I really enjoyed photographing Rochelle and Ivan, they had a lot of fun energy, especially when we went to trash the dress.

I have to also give a shout out to Jennifer Jones, she was Rochelle’s makeup artists and did an amazing job.

GENEVA + AJ : NORTH SHORE HAWAII WEDDING

I normally don’t post weddings this quickly after the date, but Geneva is being deployed this weekend.  Just as it is clear in this photo, Geneva and Aj definitely “live for today”.  They had a beautiful wedding ceremony at Ke Iki beach, and afterwards they jumped into the oh so  inviting ocean.  It was one of those days when everything came together, the sea was calm, beach uncrowded, and the sunset was amazing.

LINDSEY + JAY : HAWAII BEACH WEDDING

Lindsay and Jay had a beautiful destination Hawaii beach wedding on the North Shore of Oahu.  After the ceremony we captured some shots of them together on the beach as the sun went down, and then headed to the Turtle Bay Restaurant, Ola‘s for a dinner reception where they did a traditional tea ceremony.  What a fantastic night this was for a wedding.  The couple, their family and friends, the setting, it was all stunning.

REBECCA + TYLER : ELOPING TO HAWAII

A small preview of a wedding I photographed this week, Rebecca and Tyler’s eloped on the North Shore of Hawaii.  Nobody knew of their wedding, so I sent them a few photos quickly so they could announce it to the world. Congratulations Rebecca and Tyler, it was a beautiful ceremony.

MALIA & BRAD : WEDDING SURF PHOTOGRAPHY – TURTLE BAY HAWAII

HAWAII SURF WEDDING

This wedding brought two passions together, surfing and photography.  I was of course excited when Malia contacted me and said she wanted to go surfing in her wedding dress.  I have done a lot of trash the dress photography, but this was the first actual wedding where the bride and groom and the whole wedding party jumped in the water.  Malia and Brad’s wedding was at Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii.  This was the perfect wedding venue to have the wedding ceremony and then jump in the water.  On top of the surf, they had a really amazing color scheme.  Congratulations Malia and Brad, you guys ripped it up.

DANA & JAKE : NORTH SHORE HAWAII “TRASH THE DRESS SESSION”

Hawaii wedding photographer

Being a wedding photographer here in Hawaii I deal with a lot of different variables, especially when it comes to getting in the water for a trash the dress session.  Being on an island we are often at the mercy of the wind, sun, waves, and all different elements.   Dana and Jake’s “Trash the Dress session” almost didn’t happen.  Jake sliced his foot open before their wedding and almost didn’t make it to the ceremony after spending most of the morning in the ER.  The doctor told Jake to stay out of the water.  A friend let us borrow the big blue boot to keep Jake’s foot dry, as seen below.   Busted up foot or not Dana and Jake did a great job hiking over the coral on the North Shore, and getting in the water. The waves were a little big that day but we were able to find a safe location to get into the water. My two favorite pictures of this shoot are the 4th photo were Dana is running, and the last one.  I think she looks so peaceful as she is gliding through the water.

KATIE & MIKE : MAUI WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – TWIN FALLS MAUI

Katie and Mike flew into Maui after their wedding in Atlanta, Georgia. I met them in Maui for a trash the dress session at Twin Falls.  They were both very adventurous, especially Katie to hike in with her wedding dress. The water fall was flowing pretty good since we had a week of rain prior.  Last time I was here I was working on the Arbonne catalog, and couldn’t help to think what  a cool place it would be to photograph a bride.  So I was very excited when Katie and Mike called me up to photograph their post wedding pictures.  Congratulations guys-  it was a lot of fun spending this time with you!

TRACI & ADAM : WAIMEA FALLS WEDDING – NORTH SHORE HAWAII

Traci and Adam had their destination wedding at Waimea Falls located on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii.  This is an amazingly beautiful place to get married.  You are surrounded by a lush tropical forest and across the street is Waimea Bay that has a long sandy beach.

I really had a great time photographing Traci and Adams Wedding.  All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were a lot of fun to be around.  I was really impressed on how their wedding was so centered on their faith.  I thought it was cool that the first thing they wanted to do as a married couple was to take communion. Congratulations Traci and Adam.

TRACI : BRIDAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – LAIE HAWAII TEMPLE

I am so excited to photograph Traci and Adam’s wedding at Waimea Vally this week.  I took some bridals of Traci a few week back at the Laie Hawaii Temple, and last June we did some underwater engagement pictures on the North Shore.  You can see those here.  They are a fun couple,  and Waimea Vally is a beautiful place to get married, I think this is going to be an amazing wedding.
