LINDSAY + NICO : DESTINATION HAWAII WEDDING – KAUAI
How delightful it is going to Kauai whether for perfect surf or shooting an amazing destination wedding like this one with Lindsay & Nico coming all the way from Florida. They were such an adventurous and fun couple who I really enjoyed spending time with. First we started off by going to a private waterfall for the ceremony with their families. After a few shots on a nearby beach we drove to Poipu were they jumped off the rock at Shipwreck beach and trashed the dress, there is a little GoPro Hero clip at the bottom of the post. After some underwater photos we watched an amazing Kauai sunset. Congratulations Lindsay and Nico!
PAUL + CAITI : HAWAII ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS – NORTH SHORE OAHU
I love working with other artist, Paul is a musician and a wood worker and Caiti works in the fashion industry. Both very talented in and out of the water. You can see some of Paul’s wood working skills at fullerbanjo.com. Knew this was going to be a super fun engagement shoot when Paul and Caiti pulled out their Da Fins. It was one of those perfect days, we had lots of sun and the sea was happy. Look forward to photographing their wedding at Laulu Palm on the North Shore of Oahu in October.
KAHANA LAWAI’A : ‘OHANA CAMP 2013
This summer I was invited to document the first Lawai’a camp in Kahana. It was a five day camp centered around lawai’a (fishing). There were so many fun activities to help us understand proper fishing here in Hawai’i and to learn how to not over fish. Some of my favorites were picking up net at sunrise, building the dry box, and torching at night. Mahalo for every one who put this camp together and all the ‘ohana that participated. Best Camp ever!
HAWAII WEDDING & ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY ACTIVITIES
It’s been awhile since my last post. Step back daily bloggers… my passion for photography has combined with providing people with incredible experiences, captured by my lens. Let me share with you some of the photo-tourism and destination wedding-photo-shoots that have kept me busy this year.
This year started off full of fun photo shoots with international clients from China, Singapore and Taiwan. I might need to brush up on some language skills!
I’ve begun collaborating with an amazing, boutique, vintage Hawaii, wedding venue here in the country. (That’s code for not crowded Waikiki.) The Wedding Cottage Hawaii. The idea was to offer brides and couples getting engaged with more than an ordinary photo shoot. Coming soon we are going to offer a variety of different outdoor activities that I can document for clients in an editorial – life style type of shoot. Some of the activities include beach cruising on the North Shore, Sunset Beach skate path, paddle boarding down a river, kayaking to small islands, horse back riding and cattle wrangling at Gunstock Ranch. If you’re not a surfer or a skater but want some fun outdoor experience photographed… we’ve got options. If you do want that skate or surf experience, talk to the Event Directors at The Wedding Cottage and they can customize this, along with their lodging options. We can document highlights of your vacation and you’ll go home with images and memories that you’ll never forget. Who wants to be next?
MICHELLE & SCOTT- HAWAII PHOTOGRAPHY
It was so fun to photograph Michelle and Scott. They stopped here on Oahu on their way to Maui to do a quick shoot with me. Amazing couple, they run a banner and sign company it California that makes banners for some of the bigger surf companies like Hurly. You can see their site here. We had a great time, even got in the water for some underwater photos, Mahalo Michelle and Scott.
CANDICE & SAM – TRASH THE DRESS HAWAII
I had a great time photographing Candice and Sam’s wedding. They came all the way from New Zealand with their families for an intimate destination wedding here in Hawaii. It was a beautiful day to have a wedding on the white sandy beaches of Waimanalo. It turned out to be an amazing day, we even had time hike down to a remote cove to trash the dress. Congratulations Candice and Sam!
MIMI + STEVE – HAWAII TRASH THE DRESS : WAIMEA BAY
KATIE + NIC : ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY – CHINAMAN’S HAT HAWAII
Wow, where to start. Katie contacted me about doing engagement photos and mentioned that she and Nic are scuba divers. My mind started going crazy with ideas. I had been to Chinaman’s hat the week before and knew I wanted to do a shoot there and after talking with Katie I knew this was the couple. I also rounded up some vintage scuba gear, you can see the double hose regulator below. Thanks Katie and Nic for being so adventurous because it made for a really fun photo shoot.
NORTH SHORE HAWAII FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
What a fun shoot! This was a family of 15, his, hers, theirs, spouses and girlfriends. This was their last day of vacation here in Hawaii. With a group this large I decided to take them to a little hidden beach on the North Shore that would give us a lot of different backdrops. After shooting the family portraits they asked if we could do some underwater pictures. This was totally not planned, no one even had swimsuits or towels. Of coarse I said yes, I will take any excuse to get in the water. At first a few of the family members were a little hesitant, but once we started getting in the water it was just all fun.
MARINA & LYOSHA : FROM MOSCOW TO HAWAII – DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
I had a fantastic time photographing Marina and Lyosha from Moscow, Russia. They booked me for a four hour session giving us plenty of time to get a variety of wedding shots and also time to get some candid photos in the water. Marina and Lyosha were the 5th couple I photographed from Russia this year! Very cool. We spent our time on the North Shore of Oahu and here is a sampling of what we got.
HAWAII ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY : NORTH SHORE OAHU
Photographing this engagement session reminded me in a big way how amazingly beautiful Hawaii is. I drive on this coastline everyday and while I like to think I don’t take it for granted, I can always appreciate it more. On this day the sky was bright with blue and the water was crystal clear. Definitely a fun session for this newly married couple, she just graduated from BYUH and he flew to Hawaii from Hong Kong after a very long separation from each other.
