TAYLOR’S BRIDAL : KOOLAU WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY HAWAII

Photographing Taylor’s bridals was amazing.  A few days before Taylor’s wedding, her family’s home in Laie Hawaii was flooded, displacing the family and guests they were hosting.  On the night of the reception, the power went off in Laie, about 20 minutes into the reception.  They pulled it off gracefully as you can see in the pictures below shot at Koolau Ranch.

CHINESE NEW YEAR : HONOLULU HAWAII

This weekend we took the kids to Chinatown for Chinese New Year in Honolulu.  They had a great time seeing all the people and feeding the lion’s dollar bills.  I processed a few of the pictures with a high contrast look; I love the face of the lady with the yellow shirt. Gung Hay Fat Choy!

JAMES FAMILY : KAILUA HAWAII

Thank you James family, I hope you had as much fun as I did.  We were shooting about 5 houses down from where President Obama was vacationing last month in Kailua.  We thought about knocking on his door to see if he wanted to join us but I don’t think security would’ve  appreciated that,  the best we could hope for was a jog by. However, we did get a beautiful sunset on the beach.

You can view the whole event and order prints Here.

This is when you know a shoot is going good.

COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY : KONA HAWAII

I just got back from a week in Kona assisting fashion photographer Jon Moe.  Jon is based out of New York City, this is his second trip to Hawaii, last year I asisted him in Maui

While in Kona we stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.  This worked out perfectly for me to scout locations for a few weddings coming up in Kona .

Here are a few shots I took while there, the first is in the hills of Waimea as the fog swept through, and the second is Waipio valley, Patria and I hiked up that ridge about 5 years ago (if you can see the faint zig zag trail on the hill, that’s where we hiked).
