It has been a very busy last few months, a lot of weddings and commercial work. I am so excited for this weekend to spend a few down days with my family and good friends. I alway look forward to this weekend, its become tradition for us spend it in Makaha at the Rell Sunn Menehune surf contest. I still end up in behind the camera, but I love to get in the water and capture the kids having fun. Here are a few photos from previous years. 
I love summer, here’s a little clip of the kids of Halau Nalu enjoying some summer waves. At this age, I don’t think it get’s much more fun than this.
Devin Graham and the Mozo family just came out with the well done trailer for Transcend : the Jon Mozo story. I didn’t get the chance to meet Jon, except through his family, who have been friends here in Hawaii. I have a lot of respect and love for Jon though. He was an incredible ocean and surf photographer and his images inspire me. Can’t wait for the full movie to come out, enjoy this powerful trailer. Every once in awhile I come across something that inspires me. I think you’ll enjoy this video- Mickey Smith in “Dark Side of the Lens.” I think most everyone has someone who does a line of work or lives life in a way that they admire or aspire to. This guy is that for me. I don’t think many people live the kind of life where they constantly push the envelope, filling their days with what truly inspires them to make their living, not driven by money or fame. Or maybe I just like it becasue wearing a wet suit and diving into waves makes you feel a little like a super hero. I like a lot of things he says in the video but one of my favorite thoughts is “If I am going to scrape a living, at least it’s a living worth scraping.”
