Wow, where to start.  Katie contacted me about doing engagement photos and mentioned that she and Nic are scuba divers.  My mind started going crazy with ideas.  I had been to Chinaman’s hat the week before and knew I wanted to do a shoot there and after talking with Katie I knew this was the couple.  I also rounded up some vintage scuba gear, you can see the double hose regulator below.  Thanks Katie and Nic for being so adventurous because it made for a really fun photo shoot.

I had a lot of fun taking Stacey and David’s engagement photos!  They were very out going and fun to photograph.  As we were coming in from shooting some underwater photos at Waimea Bay,  I almost stepped on a turtle, so of course we jumped back in and got some shots with it as it swam around.  Seeing and swimming with turtle’s never get’s old.  Best wishes Stacey and David!

It definitely is feeling like summer time, and true to form, this last month a lot of my sessions have included water photography.  It was a lot of fun capturing Ashlynne and Ben’s engagement photos before they headed back to the mainland.  We started off the session at the Haleiwa bridge, and then headed to Pipeline on the North Shore where we did the underwater pictures.  Congratulations Ashlynne and Ben.

Natalie and Aaron were a super cute couple to photograph.  They met at BYU-Hawaii, both playing soccer.  At the time of this shoot their engagement was on the downlow, but was made official after Natalie visited Aaron in England were Aaron is from.  I think the yellow fish really wanted to be part of their shoot, it kept coming by and swimming around us, and at one time I think it even stared me down.

As I arrived at this engagement shoot on the North Shore, the rain started and I thought for sure Tanya and Adam would want to reschedule, but they were troopers. I’m glad because it ended up being a fantastic photo shoot.  The video I included is a little behind the scenes look at the underwater part of their session.   Adam has been deployed three times overseas already and I wish them all the best in their upcoming wedding and life together.  Congratulations Tanya and Adam, can’t wait to photograph your wedding.  You guys are a beautiful couple.

What a beautiful couple.  I had such a great time shooting these engagement photos with Lara and Chris on the North Shore of Oahu.  They were adventurous, fun, and clearly in love.  Everything seemed to work together really well, the sunlight, palm trees,  wardrobe, and their joy.  Congratulations Chris and Lara!

This is one of the most stunning locations I have photographed for an engagement session.  Marcus and Anela wanted to encompass the land and sea in their shoot.  So we spent time in these gardens on the Windward side of Oahu and also in the ocean for some underwater engagement pictures.  Marcus and Anela are truly some of the best people I know.  Marcus is in medical school and Anela is an amazing teacher here in Hawaii, my kids just light up anytime she comes around.

I love photographing underwater portraits.

I had such a great time photographing Xyra and Enrique for their engagement pictures.  A week after our shoot Enrique was deployed to Afghanistan for a year.  This is his 3rd deployment.  I don’t know how they do it being apart, but you can totally see the chemistry when they are together.

It was a beautiful day on the North Shore today.  The picture above is of the Vans triple Crown of Surfing contest in Haleiwa Hawaii.  This is the world championship of surfing.  I was on my way to an engagement session and the mountains looked amazing and I had to just pull over and snap a shot.   The picture below is of the fun couple that I was photographing.  I had a great time with this couple, can’t wait to post their shoot in a week or so.
